It began a cold fall morning...fitting as it was the begining of the fall of all. Abruptly the internet died. Numerous calamities followed of varying degrees of severity. At first annoyance ensued, followed by confusion...opportunists emerged as the power stopped. The smell of fear filled the air. National guard were deployed. Curfews were instigated. Fires blazed, filling the air with smoke...then the wolves came. It was a slaughter of mankind on a scale not seen in modern memory. But deep in their hearts, man remembered the howls in the darkness beyond the campfires...this is what the kindred awoke to on night one.

By this era, there were some megacities. Often inhabited by Elder vampires, they had the technology of the day, but did not solely rely upon the new to protect it.
In the nights that followed,
it was the Tremere in the cities and the gangrel without who faired the best. The ability to mystically communicate across distances, their organizational structure and vast experience surviving against all comers in their early years as a clan allowed the Tremere advantage. While the Gangrel had an uneasy truce with the garou, and could travel great distances thru the wilderness.

Some loremasters speculate this was the Impergium renewed, that the Red Talons must have placed one of their own as High King and renewed the purge on mankind, bringing the fight to the Weaver and tearing it down where it dwelled. If that was the case, it was rather effective. The population of earths humans were vastly lessened. Except in surviving Megacities where overcrowding and scarcity of resources became part of the daily struggle.

You are one of the lucky ones. Or so it seems on a good night. You survived. Whether a ghoul, a canny neonate, hardened ancilla or paranoid lower level elder, you fought fang and claw for a seat at the Table and a place in the City.
Now it's up to you to keep it.

It has been 200 years since the fall.
The one world goverment had lasted 230 years.
The mortals who currently inhabit the cities grew up with the world as we know it being the one they know. They still commemorate the Day of the Fall, when everything changed. It is a solemn day and night, remembering the lost, while in contrast, The Festival of Light celebrates that in the cities, the gift of power still flows, and every family has a ration free night of power, shining our abundance in defiance of the Howlers cries for our blood; rare feasting occurs, the wealthy may open their homes to elect of the lower class to join them in unity and extravagance. Sometimes they even allow them ascess beyond their station to tech and services normally beyond their reach.
Even amoung the kindred, it has been long enough for the surving Sabbat to turn tail and beg the Tremere for shelter. Though the Inquisition made their own deal and enjoy status in the city far exceeding their former bretheren.
The kindred have come to accept the Tremeres leadership, as backed by the hidden Elders.
Outside the cities, the Gangrel are considered to have the authority, shrewdly judging those who seek their aid and transporting them thru the lupine held world to the shelter of the MegaCities, for a price.

Our game's MegaCity is called  Neo Beijing and is located in China. The Beast Courts working in conjuction with rebels to the High King have also helped mitigate some of the losses in this region compared to much of the world.
The KuJjin mysteriously disapeared around the time China was first opened to the West.
Though much of the population is of chinese origin there are kindred and mortals from all over the world. Prior to the Fall, Earth had enjoyed about 230 years as a one world government. It is presently the year 2450.
